It is representative of a mature B lymphocyte just prior to the plasma cell stage of differentiation.

Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: 2-mercaptoethanol to a final concentration of 0.05 mM; fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be subcultured by total medium replacement by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 1 x 105 viable cells/mL. Maintain cultures at a cell concentration between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/mL. Do not allow the cell concentration to exceed 1 x 106 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cryopreservation
Complete growth medium, 95%; DMSO, 5%. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
